Casa Batllo

Passeig de Gracia 43 | 08007 Barcelona, Spain

Casa Batllo is located on Passeig de Gracia in Barcelona and is a Spanish building by the modernist architect Antoni Gaudi. The building was built in 1877, and rebuilt by him for the textile magnate between 1904 and 1906. What is striking about it is that nothing is angular but everything is wavy. The front façade of the building is covered with mosaic that looks very much like the fish scales. The columns on the ground floor find many people resemble the legs of dinosaurs, and the wavy roof of mosaic on the backbone of a huge monster. The balconies are very much like the jaws of marine animals that jump out of the sea.
